25 Years: Help us create better futures for Andean weavers and their communities.

As ATA enters its 25th year, we extend our deepest thanks to each and every one of you for helping Andean weaving communities achieve their dream of preserving and revitalizing their rich cultural heritage. Since our earliest partnership with the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco (CTTC) in 2000, your donations have helped hundreds of Andean families through the revitalization of textile traditions important to their history, culture, and livelihood. With your support, we can help supply the education and resources the Andean people need to reclaim their textile heritage and build a better future for themselves and their families.
Please join us in our $25 for 25 Years fundraiser and receive a commemorative gift featuring handwoven items from our Peruvian friends. Although you will receive a similar gift as pictured below, each piece is unique and colors and patterns will differ. If you choose to donate a larger amount than your gift category, please indicate your gift choice in the comments section of the donation page. If you do not wish to receive a gift, please add “no gift” to the comments section.
*Please note that these free gifts will not be shipped outside the U.S. due to shipping costs, allowing us to more effectively use your contribution

With a $75 donation: Woven mat: A perfect-size mat (about 14” x 16”) to adorn your table, use as a pillow top, or frame for the wall. Each one is a unique example of a community’s special woven design and finished with the intricate ñawi awapa edging.
Here are some ways you can help weavers directly:

Donate to a Set of Weaving Tools: $25. An Andean weaver’s livelihood depends on their tools. The tools for spinning and backstrap weaving are simple but they do wear out, and new tools must be purchased from local makers or at weekly markets. As young weavers move from making simple woven braids, they too need new tools. $25 will buy a new weaving kit for an adult or young weaver.
*Please select Weavers’ Tools from the dropdown menu on the donation page.
Donate to a Kilo of Cochineal: $50 One of the unique ways that CTTC weavers preserve Peru’s textile heritage is by using natural dyes for their textiles. Due to inflation, climate change, and other factors, the cost of these dyes continue to increase, and the weaving communities currently lack the funds to purchase dyes such as the very important cochineal. This natural dye is critical to obtaining their luscious and iconic shades of reds, purples and more. Each of the weaving communities uses 7-10 kilos of cochineal in a year. Your donation of $50 will buy one kilo of dye.
*Please select Cochineal Dye from the dropdown menu on the donation page.
Monthly giving: the simple way to make your donation do more.
Why Give Monthly? Monthly giving is the most effective way to help weaving communities in the Andes. It lowers Andean Textile Arts administrative costs and means more of your donation is impacting lives. Recurring gifts also allow ATA to respond more effectively to community needs and plan ahead to maximize our impact.
Monthly giving is easier for you to make a bigger impact too. When you set up a recurring donation, you ensure that your charitable giving is in place for the rest of the year without thinking about it continually. And if your situation changes for any reason, you can always change or cancel your monthly gift.
*Please select the Monthly tab on the donation page.
